Austin loves to read books! If he is ever grounded from anything, it would be reading. Earlier in the week he and his Dad went to Costco to do some shopping and Austin just wandered over to the book aisle. He spotted a sign that said the author of Leven Thumps, Obert Skye would be there signing books on Saturday 12-2pm. He never really asks for anything, but he really wanted to take his books and have them signed. What a treat!
We got there early, didn't know how long the line would be. Turns out there wasn't a line. There were people lingering pretty close to the location though. It was so neat to see him so excited to get his 3 books signed by this author. We met the publisher shortly before Mr. Skye came in and I told him that Austin was a huge fan. The publisher gave Austin a t-shirt. I also asked if I could take Mr. Skye's picture and he said that would be fine. He doesn't put his picture in his books, so you could be standing right next to him and not know it.
Austin figured out who he was as he approached the area. The few people that had been waiting with us, pulled Austin up to be the first person to have his books signed. He was thrilled! He had a few minutes to speak to Mr. Skye, who gave him 2 posters, an information journal, and a bronze key to Leven Thumps. It was so incredibly special to be his Mom and share this moment with him that he truly will treasure.
